Bagshot is a straightforward run from Ascot and we cover Windlesham and Lightwater from the same trip. The area runs to larger properties on generous, often heavily wooded plots, with a fair number of period houses and a good deal of later infill.
The plots are what makes the work distinctive. Outbuildings are common — garages, workshops, stables, garden offices — and they are frequently supplied by cable that was run a long time ago, to a standard that would not be accepted now. Underground runs in unsuitable cable, no separate protection at the outbuilding, and joints that have been underground for twenty years are all things we come across regularly.
Tree cover adds its own problem: overhead supplies and long garden runs take a beating, and exterior circuits in damp, shaded ground are the single most common source of the intermittent RCD tripping we get called to.
